Science and Tech = Safety

We live in a generation that is like none other. With the advancement of technology we have capabilities and luxuries that were once only seen in science fiction movies. Today there are cars that can park themselves, rear view cameras and infrared detections so pedestrians don’t get hurt. You can turn lights and safety systems on and off with a remote or cell phone app and so many more safety conveniences. There is no doubt this new technology and gadgets are making life safer, and better for those who use them.

Remote-Control Monitoring Systems

With remote-control monitoring systems you can control your thermostat, lights, and even alarm system with a remote controlled device no matter where in the world you are. It uses the same basic system and wiring you have in your traditional mechanisms, but typically adds a secondary parallel system for the remote access. By using a cell phone app, computer login, or telephone connection you can:

  • Monitor the doors and windows for safety.
  • Get updates throughout the day about temperature, or safety notices.
  • Notified of power failures.
  • Water leak notifications.
  • Monitor any fluctuations with other systems or happenings at your home.
  • Even have video monitoring with security cameras.

Effectiveness of Lane Departure Warning Systems

Because of groups like Lynas Malaysia, auto safety and efficiency is one area where technology has been huge in helping people. One of those advancements is with the invention of lane departure warnings. The basic idea is if your car starts to drift off road or over the middle line due to fatigue, distraction, or any other reason it will send an alert to the driver. In some more advanced systems like that in the 2011 Infiniti M the car will actually bring itself back a little more in line. A quote from Bank Rate about these systems cited that “there has been a 25-30% decrease in head-on, sideswipe and run-off-the-road accidents” due to these devices.

Electronic Stability Control

Some car experts have said it is the “biggest game changer in auto safety in years.” The Electronic Stability Control is a system of sensors in your cars braking technology that uses censors to determine when your car is heading off its course, and it uses the Anti-Locking Braking system to get your car safely back on track. According to Russ Radar of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, “If all vehicles had stability control, we could prevent as many as 10,000 fatal crashes a year.”

Circle of 6

Apps are a major leap forward in technology. And the Circle of 6 app is a fantastic smart phone addition. Designed mainly for women its function is to easily alert up to 6 specific friends with one of 3 predetermined text messages. With just two taps it can send out a message and campus security or the police can be called for help.

Technology hasn’t yet figured out to make everything safe and secure, but with all the new inventions it is getting closer. With advancements in home, personal, and vehicle safety people will be able to live longer and safer and with less worry more than ever before.
